  • Who here doesn’t absolutely fucking love sample compilations? A full-length CD full of music from a bunch of bands you’ve never heard of and which costs next to nothing… what’s not to love? This here sampler comes to us from Deathgasm Records, an extreme metal label based in Georgia. For the insanely low price of just $1 (or FREE with any purchase), you get over an hour of music from these bands:

QUINTA ESSENTIA (Alabama) – This technical death/thrash hybrid uses both melody and clean vocals for a strong traditional metal feel as opposed to “showing off their sensitive side”.

DIABOLIC (Florida) – These guys have had all sorts of line-up changes during their 10-year history, but from the sound of it they’ve gotten the death/grind thing down to second nature!

ABOMINANT (Kentucky) – Boasting a 15-year history and with eight full-lengths under their belt, the brutal blast beats of this outfit are most certainly not recommended for anyone over the age of 75 with a history of heart disease!

NOMINON (Sweden) – The NWOSDM is alive again! The catchy old-school thrashing death from NOMINON is for everybody who loves it dirty and heavy.

OCCIDENS (Chile) – These black metal maniacs make ANAAL NATHRAKH sound like a bunch of woodland minstrels.

BLASTMASTERS (Florida) – Entirely comprised of members of DIABOLIC, this is a project that certainly lives up to its name. Don’t expect a reprieve here!

CRIMSON MASSACRE (Texas) – These guys have the distinction of being the most technical band on this compilation and also having the most unreadable logo.

MANTICORE (Ohio) – These guys have one of the most bottom-heavy sounds of any black metal band these ears have ever heard, which is quite refreshing in a genre known for its ear-scratching treble.

THRONEUM (Poland) – Their black/death style is a (ir)reverent throwback to the glory days of HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST.

TENEBROUS (Florida) – The most traditional of the black metal bands featured here, these guys are highly recommended for fans of LEVIATHAN and early EMPEROR.

SJENOVIK (Arizona) – This duo unleash an atmospheric keyboard-laced death metal style in the vein of Sweden’s DAWN.

HYPERION (Ukraine) – Now going by the name NO EMOTIONS, these guys bring to mind the earliest work of AT THE GATES… rough, dark, the way melodic death should be done!

NEX (Sweden) – Really in a class of their own, their sound combines death, doom and traditional metal elements with a vocalist that could very well be a clone of Cronos from VENOM. This one’s definitely a highlight!

SEMARGL (Ukraine) – Combine the latter work of IMMORTAL with a death metal growler and you’ve got yet another winner on your hands.

Quite a variety, eh? And did I mention this is only a dollar? So… why the hell are you still reading this?
