The Bonny Swans cmkennitt. With her album The Wind that Shakes the Barley, McKennitt made a return to traditional and Celtic material, and this session picks out a few songs from that, without relying too heavily on it. What is evident is that the role of the troubadour which she dressed herself in this CD suits her perfectly.
Of course the album sounds brilliant on gram black vinyl. Not only had I done this album and this website a disservice by not reviewing it earlier, I had been missing out on one of the best recordings I have heard in years.
So, enough with the excuses. I highly recommend listening to this album in a dark room with nothing but a pair of headphones and a glass of wine.
It is only at the end of each song when the subtle applause comes in that we are pulled from our dreamscape that we remember we are part of an audience. Get It On Vinyl.
